It is always a privilege to work to live music with another painter. In this case, Logan and I began this piece at McKinney's art festival in 2016. We were just in front of the stage painting while jazz trumpeter Akira Sato and his ensemble played fabulous sets. After the initial burst of energy, we let the painting set, for months, until we began to work with its forms and colors to achieve this cohesive, animated, whole. There are definitely marks of two individual painters; yet through the process of refinement, we discuss and achieve a singular vision for the painting.
